PS5 CONTROLLER CONCEPT
For this quick personal project I wanted to create an alternate design concept for the PS5 controller. I worked to interpret the PlayStation design language to make informed decisions about the styling and create a family look. A quick sketch was made to use as an underlay for CAD. The model and renderings were made using Solidworks and Keyshot.
PlayStation Design Language
The PlayStation design language utilizes a prominent black core that has a white exterior wrapping around it. It features unique venting curvature with a glow from within.
Concept Sketch
Using procreate I imagined a new design for the PS5 controller. It features pronounced wrapping grips around a soft ergonomic form with unique glow locations and textures.
CAD Creation
Using Solidworks I placed the sketch into the model to use it as a reference to create CAD as close to the concept sketch as possible.
Details
The location of the glow around the grip points emulates the glow from within of the console. When a user holds the controller it will feel like the glow is coming from their hands. The large middle button has a subtle split line with a textured surface to reference the curved venting of the console.
