Quick Shred

QUICK SHRED

During my first season (Fall 2018 Launch) at Pampered Chef I designed a pair of unique meat shredders.

Insights:

The main insights that contributed to the final design were:

  1. Consumers use forks to shred meat. It is a very slow difficult process for large quantities

  2. Even slices were valued as a way to enhance the presentation of a meal, yet difficult to achieve

  3. Large cuts of meat are difficult to move because consumers do not want to keep their hands clean, it is hot, and heavy.

  4. Kitchen tools can crowd drawers and be very disorganized

Ideation:

The concepts that moved forward to be prototyped were combinations of multiple concepts. The chosen features were, a generous premium grip, long handles, nesting magnetic prongs, and a separate “Lifter” and “Shredder” design.

Prototypes:

Two sets of FDM prints were made with different prong length and spacing. Machined samples were made of glass filled nylon and the results were very similar. The nylon direction was chosen for cost, ease of manufacturing and quality control.

Magnetic Nesting

Magnets embedded in the handles helps to guide the prongs together and assists with organized and compact storage

Lift

The Quick shredders are designed to easily keep your hands clean while lifting large cuts of meat

Shred

The offset prongs of the two handles allows for meat to be shredded thin and raven.

Slice

The long prongs can be used as a slicing guide to get the perfect slice of meat, vegetables, or bread
